CREATIVE CABIN
Founded in 2006 by Simon McCorry, an experienced composer and sound designer for theatre.
CREATIVE CABIN provides a comprehensive sound design and music composition service. Our philosophy is that sound design and music are inseparable in function and need to work coherently within the overall design and direction of a production. Sound, is just as much an essential element in defining mood, space and structure as either set or lighting design. Therefore our attitude is one of collaboration.
Since our formation, we have been shifting our work away from minidiscs and CDs towards computer based systems running Qlab. There are many advantages to this. Sound levels and fades can be kept consistent from venue to venue. The time used up by sound during the tech
is minimized. The possibility that only one operator is used for both lighting and sound, even with the most complicated designs. We can provide advice for purchasing a system, as well as hiring a stable system with help and programming provided.
Simon McCorry has worked on many theatrical productions over the last few years, as a sound designer, engineer, composer and sometimes as a cellist. His music covers a range of styles, from soundscape to techno, from baroque to hip-hop, from live to recorded music.
Recent productions include Master Juba in association with GLYPT and Theatre Is... , Bacchic in association with Actors of Dionysus, The Hot Zone in association with Conspirators' Kitchen. Sound design and music for film include One Day in association with Stock-Pot Productions Productions, U.bi.qui.none in association with Studio Mejo, The Pick Up in association with Handstand Films.
